I met Mark & Kris on my triathlon team last year and was honored when they contacted me to do engagement photos for them. They picked Lake Calhoun, in Uptown, Minneapolis for their session, because that was where they met and where they got engaged! We had a beautiful night with the last of the spring flowers blooming. Here’s your sneak peek!
Before those awesome sunset shots (remember?) I spent the afternoon with Catherine and Dave, exploring my old hometown. I just love what we found in downtown Davenport. It rivals the warehouse district of Minneapolis for great textures and weathered buildings.
We stopped off at Catherine’s parents house to take some photos with their awesome dog, Suzie.
And before that we posed at the Vandeveer Park (along with every other wedding party in town). But no wonder, it makes a lovely backdrop:

Yesterday, I had a lovely engagement session on a fairly overcast day. I was optimistic that we’d see the sun just as it set and I was right! I was so happy we didn’t call it a wrap before seeing what magic would come at sunset. I’ll make a longer post later, but wanted to put these gorgeous sunset shots up first.

I LOVE the Minnesota State Fair. It’s a people-watcher and photographer’s dream. If I ever get caught up on my client photos, I’ll write a big long post sharing some of my all-time favorite fair photos. (Maybe in February?) Anyway, I’ve wanted to do an engagement session at the State Fair for a long time and I was so happy that Katie & Kyle were up for the adventure! We met at the start of the skyride.
We took some photos in the Little Farmhands cornfield:
And waited for the sun to set so we could get some fun photos of the state fair midway all lit up!
… In just two weeks! But we managed to fit a quick engagement session in on a beautiful late summer evening downtown St. Paul.
I am so excited for their upcoming wedding!
We eeked out one more beautiful Saturday this fall, although I fear our string of luck won’t continue for long. I met up with Tiffany and Drew at Minnehaha falls for an engagement session.
The falls weren’t really running, but there was beautiful color to be found:
