I’m so excited to feature Julie and Trevor on my newly-redesigned blog. Check it out and let me know what you think. Julie and Trevor are two of the sweetest people and their wedding is coming up so quickly! We met up in St. Paul, close to where the two of them met in college, for a late-afternoon engagement session. We hoped to catch some of the sunset and the Minneapolis skyline and with a lucky break in the clouds, I think we succeeded!

Jeff & Kara’s Late Winter Engagement Session

On the first warm weekend in March, I met up with Jeff and Kara to take their engagement photos downtown Minneapolis. Mother nature was kind enough to give us a dusting of snow the night before, leaving us with some pretty white snowbanks to work with but mild weather for walking around. It was also nice to enjoy the extra daylight that makes evening portraits sessions so much more fun! We also stopped off at the Guthrie Theater to add a little color to the session. Kara plans on using the engagement photos to make a guestbook to add a personal touch for their June wedding.

Mark & Kris | Engaged

I met Mark & Kris on my triathlon team last year and was honored when they contacted me to do engagement photos for them. They picked Lake Calhoun, in Uptown, Minneapolis for their session, because that was where they met and where they got engaged! We had a beautiful night with the last of the spring flowers blooming. Catherine & Dave | Engaged

Before those awesome sunset shots (remember?) I spent the afternoon with Catherine and Dave, exploring my old hometown. I just love what we found in downtown Davenport. It rivals the warehouse district of Minneapolis for great textures and weathered buildings.

We stopped off at Catherine’s parents house to take some photos with their awesome dog, Suzie.

And before that we posed at the Vandeveer Park (along with every other wedding party in town). But no wonder, it makes a lovely backdrop:

Worth Waiting For

Yesterday, I had a lovely engagement session on a fairly overcast day. I was optimistic that we’d see the sun just as it set and I was right! I was so happy we didn’t call it a wrap before seeing what magic would come at sunset. I’ll make a longer post later, but wanted to put these gorgeous sunset shots up first.

Minnesota State Fair | Twilight Engagement Session

I LOVE the Minnesota State Fair. It’s a people-watcher and photographer’s dream. If I ever get caught up on my client photos, I’ll write a big long post sharing some of my all-time favorite fair photos. (Maybe in February?) Anyway, I’ve wanted to do an engagement session at the State Fair for a long time and I was so happy that Katie & Kyle were up for the adventure! We met at the start of the skyride.

We took some photos in the Little Farmhands cornfield:

We eeked out one more beautiful Saturday this fall, although I fear our string of luck won’t continue for long. I met up with Tiffany and Drew at Minnehaha falls for an engagement session.

Fun with Hannah & Eric

I’ll be photographing Hannah and Eric’s wedding in the middle of October at the Living History Farms in Des Moines, Iowa. I’ve been excited for this wedding since Hannah contacted me back in January, because a farm, in Iowa, at the peak of fall? What could be more beautiful. After meeting these two awesome and easy-going folks, I’m truly excited and honored to be part of their upcoming wedding! We spent what may have been the nicest day of the summer (I keep saying that, but it’s true!) wandering around St. Anthony Main and Nicollet Island looking for fun places to make pictures. I promised I’d post 5 or so tonight, but true to form, I couldn’t pick just a few:
