Sally & Andrew’s October Iowa Wedding

On a gorgeous late fall day, Sally and Andrew were married at Trinity Cathedral in Davenport, Iowa. They celebrated in style in a giant (heated) tent on the grounds of the Outing Club. Some of the faces may be quite familiar if you’re a blog regular — Sally is little sister to Betsy and Anne, both of whom have been featured here before. It has been quite the honor to photograph all three of the sisters’ weddings.

Nico, how on earth did you get so big? Last time we met for photos you were barely sitting up and now you’re running and dancing all over the place. I had such a good time with you, dancing, playing catch, reading stories, and best of all, splashing in the creek. Isn’t that what summer is all about?

Miss Molly turned two years old in May, and her parents marked the occasion with a photo session near one of their favorite haunts, on location at St. Anthony Main in Minneapolis. Oh there’s nothing like a late summer evening along the lakes for engagement photos. I met up with Hana & Bjorn at Lake of the Isles on one of those perfect nights. This spot was special to them, as it was where they were actually engaged. I love that! So looking forward to their August wedding.

Now that it’s winter, I’ve been going through a lot of my old posts to create a new slideshow on my front page featuring my absolute favorite children’s images, and I realized I have a ton of sessions from last year that never hit the blog! They were featured on my facebook page (are you a fan?), but they deserve to be here, too. So here is a darling set of photos from last June, when I met up with Lainey and her mom at Minneahaha Falls park in Minneapolis for a morning portrait session. Lainey was so expressive and had fun exploring the park. I don’t know about you, but this post makes me long for flip flops, tank tops, and green grass!

August in January

A few weekends ago, I met up with August and his mom at Gold Medal Park for a few wintry photos before he turns 2 years old next month. While this has been the warmest winter I can remember since I moved in Minneapolis ten years ago, it is still hard for a little one to stay warm outside for long. So we soon moved inside to take a few more photos in the Guthrie’s big yellow box. August was a bit taken a back by the stunning view (and the translucent floor) but he soon warmed up and I got a images with that iconic backdrop.

A’s First Steps

But I’ll probably call him that forever. Some nicknames just stick, don’t they? A couple weeks back I met up with some internet friends of mine at Minnehaha falls on yet another gorgeous day to take some photos of their family of three. We’ve been seriously spoiled here in Minneapolis this autumn — I know could get used to this kind of light and natural color sticking around!
