What Gear Do You Use?
I have been using Nikon digital SLRs since 2005, and continue to do so. I bring at least two full-frame professional digital bodies to each wedding, a wide range of fast lenses (including backups), and multiple flashes. Depending on the location, I may use lightstands for your formal group photos. If you want to talk shop, send me an email and I’m happy to tell you all of the details.
Where Are You Based?
I live right on the border of Minneapolis & St. Paul, and most of my weddings are in the Twin Cities area. I also love going back to my home state of Iowa for weddings. I’m happy to travel throughout the midwest (or further), and would love to discuss travel with you at our consultation.
What do your Clients Have to Say About You?
Great things! Seriously, though, after your wedding your memories and the pictures are all that remain and I am honored by the trust my clients place in me to capture their wedding images. I pride myself in being organized, upbeat, and efficient on your wedding day. I’ll be as invisible as possible during the ceremony and prefer to let the day unfold naturally. But, I’m also happy to direct crazy cousins and unruly groomsmen into group photos as you wish. Want to talk to past clients of mine? Just let me know and I’m more than happy to provide contact information.
What’s Your Style?
Colorful, modern, and candid. You’ll receive the majority of your images in true-to-life, vivid color, with a handful of black and whites. I will capture the story of your day from a photojournalistic standpoint. In addition, I’ll help to wrangle your family members into a few large groupings for formal photos, and take those photos as quickly and painlessly as possible. And I love to find beautiful, outdoor locations for bridal party and couple portraits, as time allows. The more time you allow, the more amazing the results!
Can I See Samples?
Of course! I’m happy to show every single photo in client gallery from a recent wedding, and would love to set up a consultation to show you sample albums and other products in person. Send me an email or give me a call.
What Do I Get?
Within eight weeks of your wedding, you’ll receive approximately 500-700 high-resolution images on a USB thumb drive. This is a subset of the photographs I take ~ photos with closed eyes, that are blurry, or are duplicates are deleted during the editing process. I typically convert a portion of the photos (about 20%) to black and white, depending on my vision.
You will receive a print release that allows you to print the images from a vendor of your choice. The files will be edited (color correction, exposure adjustments, and cropped) and ready for printing. Your images will also be posted in an online gallery for you to share with family and friends. Should you wish to purchase fully-retouched images, you may do so through your online gallery.
Do You Shoot Alone?
Usually! Unless your wedding is very unique or has more than 300 guests, I can usually cover the day on my own. I will occasionally bring an assistant, but if you wish to guarantee two photographers, please inquire at the time of booking.
How Do I Book?
Great! Let me know and I will send you a contract. I also require a non-refundable deposit equal to 1/3 of the total package price to reserve your wedding date. 1/3 of the package price is due 90 days before the wedding, and 1/3 of the package price is due two weeks before the wedding.
